A Bit About The AAC
We are a group of passionate historians, researchers, and archivists hoping to preserve modern history. The time we live in is an uncertain one and we, like many of you, saw the need for preservation.
This website was created simply as a hub for those who would wish to view and stay up to date on what is being archived and preserved for the people of today, and tomorrow. In this website you will find pages of links to where we store the project. This is the most cost effective way for The AAC to share our work with you at this point in time.
Though most of us working on this project have full-time jobs, we work on it every chance we can, as things are happening rapidly, and we too must act in such a manner. Each evening updates are made to the archive, so you can count on a steady pace of work.
We started working on this with humanity in mind, nothing else. The preservation of history is paramount and cannot be understated. A demand by you asked for a place where you could go to keep up with what we were doing. We decided to name ourselves, and create this space for all of you. We will never charge you a dime for this information, as we believe strongly that information should be free. Any form of tip/donation/money collected through this website is now, and always will be optional.
We appreciate any form of support you all can offer. Welcome to The Accessible Archivist Coalition.
What does this project do?
At The AAC, we are:
collecting documents from public news and government websites and archives that are pertinent to all areas of research and current events
downloading the files to multiple local devices, external hard drives, cloud storage
backing up and encrypting these files for preservation
creating a public access database with these files
in the process of making a website to publish all these public access documents through an independently created and curated database
What do we need assistance with?
Website creation
Document organization, metadata creation, copyright checks, and archival tech work (custom archival schematic will be provided by Alexis with easy to follow instructions)
Saving articles about current events and submitting them to us for preservation
Organizing and archiving those files in a database
Securing grants and funding the make this an even larger, more accessible archive
